What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?


Besides jumping out of planes and buying lottery tickets, imagine for a second what your business would look like.



What chances would you take? What would you view as an opportunity instead of a risk?

Perhaps you’re rolling your eyes. A major part of being human is the knowledge that failure exists, that it's painful and uncomfortable and that ideally, you don’t have to experience it often, if ever. So what’s the point in imagining a world without failure?


BECAUSE manifesting success is about removing the doubt that you won’t reach your goals. And in order to set up goals that you can actually succeed at, you have to set a mental foundation that you CAN actually achieve them.


So let’s try this again from a different lens. Take a giant mental step back. Out of the weeds of your day to day. Above the trees of your upcoming to-do list, over the forest of the next few months, and observe the whole national mental park of what your business will look like in the future. For the average business owner, this once again might feel a bit ridiculous. How can you consider 3, 5, even 10 years when you can’t see past next Tuesday? Bear with me though, it’s not the timeline to focus on, it’s the visionary exercise itself.


In order to truly strategize your business, you have to stop spinning your wheels of doing the same thing over and over again. You have to break free from your routine and consider WHY you’re doing what you’re doing at your business. What’s the goal here? What’s the point? If you don’t really step back and establish why you’re doing what you’re doing, you’re most likely on a direct path to burnout, fatigue and (dun,dun,dun) feeling like a failure.


So allow yourself to dream big (and get weird) for a second. Where would you like to be in 3, 5,10 years? Pick something that feels impossible and scary.


For example, let’s say you want to quadruple your income in two years. That’s your big goal. Your up in the sky above the park big picture plan. Stay with me. What if... you did it? What if you actually manufactured a plan to get there using (my favorite) “reverse engineering”? By establishing base metrics such as how you’re currently earning money, when you sell the most, how many products/services you need to sell to earn that profit, you could create a timeline and drill down a strategy to get there.



And then? You’ll begin to measure what matters and figure out how to grow those numbers. Deep Pinterest quotes aside, you’ll surprise yourself that once you start asking the right questions about how to improve, you’ll start getting better answers.


You’ll put your energy in not just getting from one day to the next and actually start asking, how do I reach this big picture goal? Where do I need to spend money to bring more money in? What do I need to sacrifice now to get ahead later?


... And all of a sudden, the ‘what would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail’ mantra doesn’t just sound like some silly online quote but a challenge, NAY, an opportunity (!!!) to be more strategic and insightful with your business goals.


So shoot for the moon, small business friend, the stars and your company’s success awaits.
